INTRODUCTION
Castor Oil (Ricinus communis L.) is a vegetable oil obtained from the seeds of the castor plant, which belongs to the Euphorbiaceae family. Its characteristic component is ricinoleic acid, an unsaturated fatty acid containing a hydroxyl group in its chemical structure, which gives the oil distinctive properties compared with many other vegetable oils. It also contains other fatty acids, such as linoleic, oleic, stearic, and linolenic acids [1].
Due to its distinctive chemical properties, Castor Oil is used in various fields, including cosmetics and personal care. According to a specialized safety assessment of cosmetic ingredients, this ingredient functions as a skin-conditioning agent, emulsion stabilizer, and surfactant in formulations [2]. It is therefore an ingredient used in the development of personal care products.
